Netflix… Gaming?

Certainly sounds a bit surreal

Apologies about no post yesterday, personal matters came up that meant I couldn’t post, anyway back to the news!

Netflix is reportedly making an interesting move as they have made several hires related to the game industry including a member of the Oculus team and someone from the Facebook Gaming team and have given them positions such as ‘President of Game Development’, very interesting.

This implies that Netflix is aiming to become a fully fledged game developer which with their interesting appearances at things such as E3 this year makes a bit of sense as it seems as though games made using shows from Netflix are becoming increasingly popular. Now this doesn’t indicate as to if they are simply hosting their own studio-made games on their streaming platform or if they will be creating an entirely new section that they will bring in other games into but if so this could very well be a big step. Offering the actual ‘Netflix for Games’ dream that many have had would be a huge step for the company and while I believe that currently the Xbox Game Pass already covers that niche having Netflix take a stab at the concept would certainly give it a run for it’s money. I suppose we will see over the coming year as there has not yet been an official announcement from the company and we will see how they plan to utilise their new talent in this difficult industry.

That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
