With the death of Bioware recently of course also came the death of the currently in development new entry in the Mass Effect universe, a big shame to those who like the series such as myself as after Andromeda fans were hoping for a return to prime effectiveness, but sometimes you just don’t get what you want.
Rubbing salt into the wound more however is a leaked trailer for the game linked above. it provided the name of the game, Mass Effect: Universe, and showed that it was more of a lower stakes spy thriller rather than the giant space operas of the previous titles. It’s all pre-rendered and as such doesn’t really tell us much about how good the game might have been, but it’s still a shame that we didn’t get to see how this panned out. We can only hope that another studio might want to try and snag the rights to this franchise, but until then, Mass Effect will remain a series permanently stuck in limbo for the foreseeable future.
