Mario Fan Games can be some of the biggest works of passion from the gaming community as taking one of the most iconic characters in the medium’s history and making an entire game based around him can be a daunting task. One that particularly interested me as I was searching for new fan games was ‘Super Mario and the Rainbow Stars’, a 2D fan game that claimed to be a mixture of traditional Mario gameplay whilst also mixing in elements from the Paper Mario RPG series.
What does this end up looking like? Well, a gorgeous looking platformer with companions, upgrades and a fun story! When I am done with the big game rush over the next couple months I’ll certainly be checking it out as just by watching gameplay alone it seems like the type of game I would enjoy.
