If you’ve enjoyed any aspect on the gaming indie world over the past few decades then you probably will have heard of Kingdom of Loathing or West of Loating, an RPG series that uses intentionally low-effort style stick figures and comedic elements to make vast and interesting games based on existing story-telling genres of styles such as fantasy or wild west.
Now it seems that a brand new Loathing game just got released completely out of the blue! Developers ‘Asymmetric Publications’ decided to work on the game silently for over five years and now it is released it’s maddening to think that nobody was aware of this project aside from the developers, guess that fits the theme of this entry then it seems. This time we have ‘Shadows Over Loathing’ which as you might guess from the title is a parody RPG set in a lovecraft-inspired world with weird coastal towns, fish people and all the usual stuff. There are few games in which you can specialise as playing as a chef to combat enemies in an RPG so for something like that alone Shadows Over Loathing is worth checking out if you want to enjoy a funny and well made game. You can check out the game’s Steam page right here.
That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
