Garry’s Mod is perhaps the most modded game in the world for many obvious reasons. The game is built upon the foundation of custom content and so it’s no surprise that one of the big genres of things to add into the game is stuff from other games, and Nintendo games seem to get a big representation.
However, that’s all about to change now as a seemingly believable takedown notice has been sent by what most are assuming is Nintendo to Gmod’s creators, meaning they have to look to distance themselves from Nintendo related mods. As such, they are looking to remove all Nintendo related mods on the Steam Workshop including models, maps, game modes and more. This is a huge sweeping change, but while it is sad to see all of this go there’s no doubt that this stuff will still be available on other sites that aren’t directly associated with Valve. Still, it will make it harder to gain access to these mods and that’s a damn shame.
Nintendo seem to be on the warpath recently and who knows what else they may go for in order to secure their IPs. Maybe fan games will all go soon not just big Pokemon ones… that would be a damn shame. Japan really needs to get their fair use laws sorted out. That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
