Gamescom 2024 Announcements

Ok, let’s get more broad this time

Now that I’m done getting excited over specific announcements, it’s time to note the most interesting stuff that was fully announced at the Gamescom opening! For those who don’t know, I only mention the stuff that personally caught my interest rather than everything, so please feel free to check out the full opening video if you want to see everything.

Firstly, they started off with a surprise big reveal, a new Borderlands game! Is Borderlands 4 meant to distract us from the terrible movie? Who knows… all I know is that I’m sure many people will be excited at this reveal. Next up was info that the original Goat Simulator was getting a remaster… not sure that this is a game I would personally pick for one of those but hey to each their own. We also got shown gameplay of the expansion dlc for Persona 3 Reload, Episode Aigis, which I’ve heard many mixed things about the original expansion. Will this be any better? Guess we will see…

Next we got a new Dying Light game, this one titled ‘Dying Light: The Beast’ and it looks as spooky as ever with plenty of zombies and lots of running, just another typical zombie experience it seems! We also got a reveal of a sequel to No More Room in Hell, continuing the zombie trend, and this one even has 8 player co-op! That’s a lot of friends you will need. We also finally got a release date for Path of Exile 2 which is slated to be on November 15th, you can bet I will be jumping into that when I get the chance.

A new Fatal Fury game was revealed, known as ‘Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves’ and it’s been a while since I’ve seen this series in the limelight, hope it’s good! We also got a cool looking mech game known as ‘Mechabreak’ which gives me a lot of Armoured Core vibes, it’s a multiplayer-focused game so maybe this will fill the HAWKEN shaped hole in my heart… After that we got a TV show reveal of all things, though this one is interesting. It’s called ‘Secret Level’ and is essentially an animated anthology show that takes various games from loads of different genres and makes each episode a different world and story centering around the games. These range from big hitters like Warhammer to smaller indie titles like Sifu. It all looks very interesting anyway, and I am looking forward to watching it!

We got actual gameplay of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 which shows off our unlucky protagonist still embarking in your usual medieval antics. We also got another horror surprise in Little Nightmares 3, marking the third game trying to ruin your childhood memories. Shockingly, Peter Molyneux took the stage to announce his new game, Masters of Albion which I am personally quite excited for as it gives me big ‘Black and White’ vibes. Hopefully he doesn’t overhype it… again… Finally, at the end of the show they revealed a new entry in the Mafia series, a prequel called ‘Mafia: The Old Country’ but we didn’t get too much additional info on that. I have a friend who adores that series, so hopefully this brings them a lot of joy.

And that’s your lot! Again, if you want to see everything then be sure to check out the actual opening ceremony online but hopefully my summary has piqued your interest regardless! Which game are you most excited for? Share in the comments section! That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
