If any of you are familiar with the SCP Foundation then you will no doubt know about one of it’s most famous anomalies, an endless Ikea where the staff are trying to kill you during the evening. Well it seems as though someone thought this would make a great game idea and so decided to make ‘The Store is Closed’, a first-person survival horror game in which you are dropped inside the endless not-Ikea to create living spaces out of the furniture, scavenge for supplies, keep safe from the mutated and mutilated staff members and try to find your way out.
The game is a cool concept and I’m very glad someone decided to make a game about it as previous SCP games have also been very successful and effective horror games. However it seems that unfortunately the actual Ikea company are not happy as they have threatened to sue the creator for usage of Ikea style branding and colour usage despite it not actually using the Ikea logo or name. As such the creator has had to change a few things around to get around this but it leaves a sad precedent that this cool game concept might be soured in the creator’s eyes due to a big company thinking this will somehow affect their bottom line. Truly a shame.
Regardless if you’re interested in tracking how this game develops then you can check it out at their Steam page right here. That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
