Battlebeating the Competition

Talk about a Blockbuster!

It’s always nice to see the little guy come out on top sometimes, and this is certainly a case of that. At the time of me writing this, the best selling game on Steam is, in fact, a wee indie game called ‘BattleBit: Remastered’ which is a voxel-based modern military shooter that has completely destructible environments and can host up to 254 player matches, yowza!

The development team, consisting of just 4 people, released this surprise hit recently and people have been absolutely loving it. Perhaps it’s the no-nonsense fact that the game is simply a buy and play experience, maybe it’s the fact it’s a cheap $15 for a reelatively complete early-access experience that is similar to many other modern shooter experiences that people love or it could even be the the fact that due to the system requirements being so low it’s incredibly accessible to many people who may not have the strongest hardware. Regardless of all this BattleBit is beating out all of the big names on Steam, even by revenue which is very impressive considering the competition is charging full price, so I’m all for this. Many have said this brings back the nostalgia and good old days of the peak of the Call of Duty and Battlefield scenes so perhaps indies can help cater to that sector where modern choices have failed. I’m just happy to see an indie project do so well and I hope the best for them!

That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
