Creative Assembly recently showed off a full breakdown of several things for their various Total War games including Medieval, Rome and Fantasy Warhammer. However, one of the biggest things they showed off was the incredible demonstration of Warhammer 40K and I must say I am very impressed. They showed off the overview of a Hive Planet for a campaign map, a Hive City battle map and the sheer scale of everything is truly impressive. I’m a sucker for the amount of time I’ve spent just awing at the detail of the maps in Fantasy Total War Warhammer but this game may very well eclipse that with how much love and effort they are putting in.
Of course, the main things is we didn’t see any actual combat or campaign gameplay so for now it’s all just pretty environments, but if they are able to pull this off then this very well could be something special. CA are planning to do another demonstration in future months showing us actual in-engine combat and how it will differentiate itself from other titles so I’m very much looking forward to that. In the meantime, let’s just all look at how pretty this blasted hellscape really is.
