Developer ‘Grinding Gear Games’ has been hard at work showing off their latest game, Path of Exile 2, to their fans at the latest ‘ExileCon’ showing off a new act and one of the new classes, the monk.
It seems however that an even bigger announcement came from this. You see PoE2 was announced a long while back and has been in development for some time. When it was initially announced we were informed that it would essentially replace the original game, similar to how Overwatch 1 was replaced by 2, and all the cosmetics and other microtransactions would carry over from the original game. However now it seems the developers have changed their mind as they announced that while the cosmetics and such would indeed still be transferrable, the second game would now be fully standalone and PoE1 will still be around even after the sequel is released.
Personally I think this is great news as it means those who liked the first but maybe don’t like the changes of the second game can go back to the game they prefer. I feel more developers should focus on doing that when a sequel comes up, especially for games that are perpetually online. Still it will be interesting to see how both games fare when it releases at some point in the future, it certainly won’t be for a good while that’s for certain.
That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
