This is certainly unexpected, is there something in the game development water lately that is making companies release new DLC for games that came out over a decade ago? Well regardless here’s another example, Witcher 3: Songs of the Past! This will see us once again step into the shoes of Geralt on another grand adventure that apparently is just as big, if not bigger, than Blood and Wine, the last expansion. We don’t know much else about the expansion aside from the fact it’s planned to come out in 2027 and we will be playing as Geralt once again.
This is an odd choice as at the end of the previous expansion it was pretty clearly Geralt hanging up his monster slaying sword and taking retirement so the fact that we’re back playing as him again seems… almost disrespectful? Regardless, it’s clear that this is going to somehow tie into the events of the Witcher 4 and most likely this will act as a stop-gap between 3 and 4, giving us information as to how the new game is going to start. Regardless of the intention this is still more Witcher 3 content, so you can bet I will be jumping into it when it comes out next year!
