Popular games get all the fun don’t they? Sure we all remember the big hitters like Super Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, Crash Bandicoot etc but what about all those wonderful hidden gems of the past that have simply dissapeared with the passing of time.
We of course know why most games become popular, because they were just that good! It’s hard to emphasise just how important Ocarina was to the Nintendo 64 and how revolutionary it was to the entire 3D adventure genre. However not every game needs to redefine a genre, some just need to be interesting enough or fun enough to become an enjoyable time. One of my favourite games of all time is a Megaman Legends Spin-off game (how much more niche and side-gamey can you get?) called The Misadventures of Tron Bonne (as seen above). This game is by all intents an incredibly rare and not widely known game however it is able to provide not only incredibly fun 3D mech combat but also a wide variety of gameplay mechanics and a cohesive story from the perspective of the bad guys. This is a prime example of a game that almost nobody knows about and yet is still something that is worth remembering, and if you ever get yourself a copy of the game I highly recommend playing it through. Try to experience the wonder that I felt as a child playing this game.
That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
