Subtle References

God I love stuff like this

SPOILERS FOR ELDEN RING AHEAD

I love it when games try to reference each other without blatantly being a direct showing of another character or an intentional crossover event. Things like having parodies of characters or mechanics, and sometimes even full levels or sections of a game. T hey work as a nice nod to the original piece of art while still allowing many to enjoy the fact that they understand the reference.

A brilliant example of which just happened in the Yugioh card game, with the card above, if you’re familiar, being a reference to the final boss of the DLC of Elden Ring, with a big, bulky dual sword wielder carrying a long-haired godly-being on their back. It’s an excellent nod and a great reward for prople who understand what it is referencing.

So I wanted to know, what are some of your favourite subtle nods in gaming? Let us know in the comments! That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
