And now for the other big game announcement stream. As stated before, I didn’t have much to note from the other streams, so will just list the games that interested me from this one. Luckily there is plenty to talk about.
To start off, of course, Microsoft announced their long awaited new mobile PC, the Xbox Ally, which looks to be the Xbox equivalent of a Steam Deck allowing for Windows operating systems to work directly on it and allow for various platforms such as Steam, Epic Games Store and of course the Xbox Game Pass. No price yet, though considering other options on the market I can’t imagine this will be cheap. Guess we will have to see if this becomes a widely adopted system, or if people will just look to buy a Steam Deck instead.
Now onto the games, first off The Outer Worlds 2 which actually got a full direct dedicated to it following the show. Seems to be more of the capitalist-bashing same as the original game, and it is set to come out on 29th October, perfect to scare everyone with what our future could potentially look like! Then, alongside the new console reveal, we actually got a release date for Hollow Knight: Silksong, being an Xbox Ally launch title later this year! Crazy times, and even more crazy is the fact that we are also getting a 3D Super Meat Boy, which I don’t think anyone really expected.
Next up was a long trailer for inXile’s mix between a Bethesda RPG and Bioshock Infinite, Clockwork Revolution, which looks to make for an interesting RPG experience featuring Steampunk, swearing and time travel! Definitely was the longest trailer too. Next up was a very British game, There are No Ghosts at the Grand, which looked to be a strange mix of renovation game, investigation story and.. lovecraftian horror? It interested me regardless, and I will for sure be checking it out. We got confirmation that Persona 4 is getting a remaster, and that the game is called Persona 4: Revival, and that’s it, easily the worst trailer for the most hyped game for me!
Invincible VS is a 2D fighting game set in the superhero-filled Invincible universe, and is a strange pick as aside from a couple characters I don’t think they would have enough to fill out a roster, interesting choice regardless. Then we got the reveal of a new Double Fine game called Keeper which sees you controlling a… sentient lighthouse? Interesting concept, and knowing the team behind it, I will be intrigued to keep an eye out for it. Finally, new Call of Duty… and that’s all I really have to say on that.
So, a packed show! Plenty to discuss and plenty to be excited about. I always like seeing the indie and one-off games in these conferences as due to it all being on the Game Pass I can just choose to pick up and play them without having to even consider the initial purchase, so these games instantly become more viable to me. Regardless, there was plenty more shown off, but you’ll need to see Microsoft’s official stream to see everything else. In the meantime, I think I’ll go see what’s on the Game Pass right now… oh! Metaphor: Refantazio is on there! Hell yeah, there goes a couple weeks of my life!
That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
