The Takedown

It looks like a bootleg…

Well that didn’t take long. If you all remember a few days ago I talked about a fun browser game which was based on the original Mario Bros being played in a racing type battle royale with up to 100 players at a time. Well wouldn’t you know Nintendo actually filed a DMCA Takedown notice to the creator which means if he didn’t stop using Nintendo assets he would be sued and so as a result this game has been rebranded to ‘Infringio Royale’, how subtle.

It’s an absolute shame as the idea of it was fun and interesting and due to the fact he wasn’t making any profit on it there was not much he was gaining aside from giving a fun little experience for all. Still the creator has made a few placeholder changes thus far to make it compliant but states that he will do a lot more work on the art and assets to make them look a lot better for the future. I am aware that Nintendo is basically forced to do this to ensure it keeps the rights to the Mario series but it’s still a shame to see someone doing something nice simply going to waste.

That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
