The Loss of E3 2021

Not that much of a surprise is it?

In a shocking turn of events that nobody saw coming at all, E3’s live event has been cancelled this year, I know who would have thought. Jokes aside the pandemic is still raging on and as such it’s not much of a surprise to hear that the event will not be taking place again and we shall have to get our big gaming announcements from elsewhere.

Something interesting to note however is that while last year there was no replacement for the show there are talks for an online substitute for E3 this time with many developers showing an interest. Personally I think that it would have to be the only way for the event to survive in this current digital age but with so many companies instead choosing to do their own livestreams for announcements and such I don’t really see hwo many of them would prefer to be on a digital showcase rather than just host an event themselves. It will be interesting to see, and for myself I will particularly want to see what the general vibe around the loss of E3 will be and if a digital replacement will be the way forward. Times are indeed changing after all.

That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
