I’ve always admired the Gameboy, in fact thinking back it may have been my first ever gaming console with a bootleg 50 in 1 cartridge bought from a car boot sale. Good times, and every so often I may feel the urge to boot up the truly retro handheld console to play a game or two. What I haven’t thought to myself is how I’d love to stuff this whole thing into a Smartwatch, and yet this is a thought that Youtuber ‘LeggoMyFroggo’ apparently did have, and so now we have the monstrosity in the video above.
Essentially it’s a combination of hardware from both the original Gameboy and the remains of a Raspberry Pi and a couple other piece of micro-computer tech, stuffed into the casing of a custom-made smartwatch device and frankensteined together into the device you see. It functions perfectly fine, and even plays micro-cartridges custom made for it! Only issue is, well, you need to control it via the controls of a Smartwatch which, as you can imagine, is a bit tricky. Regardless, the project is an amazing feat of engineering and is even now Open Source! So if you too wished to create the abomination of a Nintendo Console well, now you can. Just don’t go expecting this to be the bets way to play any of the games.
That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
