In an interesting turn of events a couple employees at EA decided to update the official Spore website after 5 years of silence, informing us that not only are they going to interact a bit more with the dedicated Spore community, but that there is now an official Spore Discord server that players could interact in.
The timing is odd, as Spore hasn’t been relevant in many years but has had a dedicated series of players that love the game and would enjoy seeing a dedicated sequel, including myself! Sadly they confirmed outright that a sequel wasn’t in the works, but it IS strange that they decided to do this out of the blue. Many speculate that they are doing this so they can gauge if they should look to fix the online features on the Steam version of the game, which is a fair point of contention. Either way, I’ll be keeping an eye out on this, anything Spore related would give me a great big smile.
