Skyblivion is Almost Here

That horse looks far too stable to be in Oblivion!

The team making the big overhaul of The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion in the Skyrim engine just released a roadmap trailer showing their hopes for a full 2025 release and the work that is still to be completed for the project. The game itself still looks great and they very clearly broke down what needs to be done and what team members they still need to complete the work that is still here, which is nice to see in what is essentially a volunteer mod team.

Will the game actually come out this year? Who knows, depending on if they get the help they need I would certainly hope so, but ultimately I want it to be good, not rushed out the door to meet an arbitrary deadline. There are still those who are skeptical abot the project, noting the fact that part of the original Oblivion’s charm was the jank and graphical setting which I completely understand, what is Oblivion if not an example of the so bad it’s good vibe of how to do voice acting in a game. However, I still have hope and with the changes they are making to the base game this may end up being just feeling like a brand new, if slightly familiar, Elder Scrolls game, which I am totally fine with. Let’s just hope they don’t get wrapped up in any form of scandal before the end of the year… please…

That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
