In a nice turn of events Activision/Blizzard decided to backtrack on their strange authentication system that they have been putting into their games recently regarding using phone numbers linked to your account to actually play their multiplayer games. This has been used on both Overwatch 2 and Modern Warfare 2 and is considered by many as a stupid system to allegedly stop smurf accounts but has just led to general pain for those using prepaid phones and other such things.
Now unfortunately the system is still going to be present much to the dismay of those without phones but now they will at least allow you to use pre-paid phones to verify your account. Personally I think the whole system should be scrapped but it seems as though Activision/Blizzard are intent on keeping this so I guess those that can’t afford phones will just have to deal with not playing their games unfortunately, what a shame.
