Neowiz are the development studio responsible for the creation of the much loved Lies of P, the Souls-Like set to the story of Pinocchio. They’re currently working on a sequel to the game, however something has come up which has put people on edge, AI usage. Recently, it was discovered that the company was looking to hire an ‘AI Creator’ to the team which according to the job ad would be for quote;
” ‘asset creation’, post-processing, and training AI models for use in game library creation”
This, understandably, has worried a lot of people as most games found to have included AI created art assets and coding additions have found to have issues with bugs, sub-par quality and other matter which lead to an overall worse experience. That’s not to say the technology is inherently a bad idea for development, it can be useful for the creation of baseline or conceptual things, however so brazenly opening up to its usage is a bit of a strange choice. The company has stated that it won’t impact directly on the sequel to Lies of P, however we both know that’s not true. So I guess if this is the straw that means you won’t play the next title then there you go, I’m just curious what the end result product will look like now.
