Does anyone remember Doctor Robotknik’s Mean Bean Machine? It was a fun sonic spin-off puzzle game for the genesis that was beloved by many to the point that it even made a cameo appearance in the recent Sonic Mania. Well it seems the current owners of the Super Meat Boy IP, Team Meat, agree and so we now have Doctor Fetus’ Mean Meat Machine.
As you can probably tell from the title this is essentially a version of the genesis sonic classic but with a Meaty twist providing the distinct art style of the SMB games whilst also adding in new changes like traps and obstacles to stop your falling meat blocks. It seems like a fun concept however it must be noted that the original creator, Edmund McMillen, is also not involved with this game just like the previous entry in the series which was… not well received to say the least. Regardless I am willing to wait and see before making any judgements but let’s see just how much love this spin-off title gets when it releases later this year.
