The Xbox Developer Showcase didn’t show a lot of new information to us but probably the biggest announcement of the show was the reveal of gameplay for the highly teased Indiana Jones game from developer MachineGames.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (interesting name I know) has now been revealed to be a first person shooter with whip gameplay, an interesting choice as most people were expecting it to be a standard third person affair like most ‘Action Adventure’ games. Though considering Bethesda is assisting on this behind the scenes perhaps they just has that wee bit of influence on the design decisions…
It’s a pretty looking game at least, though a friend of mine who adores the franchise said he wasn’t too impressed by it saying that it looked like a game that could be made years ago. I can see where he’s coming from, but to me the main factor on if this is a soul-less cash grab or not will be the balance of puzzles/exploration and combat. If this can be essentially a first person Uncharted game then I would consider it a success, but I guess we will just have to wait and see closer to release.
