Here we are again with more announcements that we all actually tuned into the event for and not the celebration of the games industry and the well deserved rewards to developers that poured their hearts and souls into their products, you monsters. Anyway, as always this will just be a summary of the things that interested me so if you want to see absolutely everything announced then be sure to check out the stream. Otherwise, let’s get to it!
First off, Elden Ring is getting a spin-off game called ‘Elden Ring: Nightreign’ which is a roguelite co-op experience that has you play as one of several characters to take out a big boss on a 3 day cycle. It feels very experimental to me which is of course interesting for a spin-off game, I’m intrigued to know more!
We also got a trailer for The witcher 4 and Ciri has never looked better. No gameplay yet, but with showing us that geralt is officially out of the picture I’m interested to see how the fans take this. Next up was the reveal that Ninja Gaiden is back, and is actually being revived as the classic 2D platformer it originally was. It’s being made by the developers behind blasphemous, so you can bet it ill look absolutely gorgeous.
Next up was Catly which looked like a… strange… dream… cat game? I dunno it all seemed very odd, and it of course didn’t actually tell us what kind of game it was aside from the fact it has cats in it. I guess we will find out more soon enough, but that kitten did look pretty cute. Shockingly, Team Ico also made an appearance showing off a game about a kid and a giant robot, no name as of yet but with their track record this is bound to be huge.
Of all game series that randomly got rebooted too, Virtua Fighter was not one of them, no details as to the revival yet but rest assured this is sure to set the fighting game community ablaze. We also got an announcement that Turok is back, seems lots of old franchises are coming back from the dead, hopefully this one is able to stand out from the crowd. The one that WILL stand out from the crowd though is that Okami is getting a sequel!?!? Of all games that I thought developers thought about, Okami is a shocker as I can’t even imagine how good looking a sequel will be, I just hope it won’t be a Sony exlusive.
What WILL be a Sony exclusive though, and the final game reveal on my list, is Naughty Dog’s newest project called ‘Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet’ which is a sci-fi hack and slash game that looks straight out of Cowboy Bebop and I absolutely adore this 80’s sci-fi aesthetic they got going on with it. While I probably won’t be able to play it, with it being PS5-bound, I for one will love to see gameplay and just experience this cool world they are making.
