Everhood

Yes that is an ATM boss battle, and what?

I really should pay more attention to Gamejolt. After browsing through some news on PCGamer I came across an article that pointed to a very interesting game called Everhood. It’s a free demo of a project that is intending to release as a full game and has certainly caught my attention from the short time I spent with it.

Everhood is, in simple terms, a cross between a standard game maker RPG and a rythm game. Essentially while the overworld consists of you walking around, gathering items and talking to interesting characters the battles you take part in work like a type of reverse Guitar Hero. Enemies send waves of energy down lanes to attack you matching the beat of the current music and you must jump and move from lane to lane in order to avoid them until eventually the song ends and you win the battle. The visual and audio presentation is very much inspired by Undertale and yet it seems to very much have it’s own identity and world that it’s building up. The main character you play as reminds me a lot of Geno from Super Mario RPG and overall the game looks gorgeous for what it is.

I highly encourage you all to check out the demo and give the developers your full support if you’re into this genre as it really is an audiovisual spectacle when you play it. Here’s a link to the page where you can download the game and give some feedback in response to what you thought.

That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
