The Embracer Group (Formerly THQ Nordic AB) is certainly aiming to make a name for itself. Not only did it recently just acquire a huge variety of gaming studios from Square Enix but it also has now started a brand new initiative, the ‘Embracer Games Archive’.
This aims to be a physical game collection located in an archived vault within Karlstad, Sweden and will be one of if not the biggest physical historical archive of gaming history available. The idea is to allow the collection to be available for academics and historians with the public being allowed access in some fashion at a later point and iwll be a huge milestone for game preservation. Not only will this be the biggest thing for gaming historians in a long time but it will help combat the ensuing trend of erasing the past to sell future products. Gaming as an art form should be preserved and so it’s nice to see some people trying to do exactly that.
That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
