It seems as though some coders just have too much time on their hands, and I love it!
Rich Whitehouse is that particular coder who has come up with a genius way to create custom DOOM maps, Roombas! You heard me right, he realised that these small automated vacuum cleaners have a pretty sophisticated mapping software built into them and thus he came up with a silly idea. By uploading his personal code into his Roomba it then went on a journey around the home and when it returned he uploaded the map created by the little robot into DOOM which became a fully playable scenario.
Rich only tested this on one particular type of Roomba but the possibilities are hilariously large. I personally cannot wait to see when Roombas will start designing our very own maps, maybe developers will start cutting corners with these in the future. That’s all for now, and as always.
