Diablo 4 Open Beta Impressions

Yes yes, high and mighty and all that crap

So I was able to get some time this past weekend to try out the Diablo 4 Open Beta and I think the best way to describe it is… a mixed bag.

While I adored the art style and general atmosphere of the game, the gothic and slavic feel of the world is absolutely on point and beautifully done, my main issues came from the technical side of the game. While the gameplay itself was fine and servicable, and I even enjoyed finding out more about the story here, I had so many glitches, crashes, framerate drops, freezes and more that it really soured the experience. I’m aware that this is a beta and as such technical issues are to be expected but for this being my first impression of the game it certainly dissapointed me.

It clarified something for me however, I definitely will not be pre-ordering this. While I enjoyed my time I ultimately cannot recommend the game if it is this technically shoddy on full release. I would suggest waiting until full release, see what the reviews say about the technical performance, and then decide from there if they fix things up. I actually found most of the issues came from the forced online-only style of game they decided to implement here. I didn’t really interact with any of the online features aside from a world boss encounter and ultimately it just left so many technical issues that it ruined the experience overall. This really could have done with an offline mode.

That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
