A brand new strategy game is now available for pre-order on Steam and if you love giant robots you’re going to have a big surprise. Battletech is seemingly a homage to the Mechwarrior board game series.
You pilot a variety of giant robots and walk around a battlefield in a turn based tactical game shooting at enemy robots, targeting specific parts and managing your heat and resources. The terrain is also a massive hindrance as if your machine is flipped over you become extremely vulnerable to enemy combatants.
Several other board game-like elements included are the use of a grid, stats on every mech and the ability to customise your machines of death to suit the battlefield you are about to take part in. Personally this seems like a wonderful mix of Mechwarrior and XCOM which is a game I never realised I wanted more than now. The game is scheduled to come out some time in April so get pre-ordering if you feel like trying out this interesting sounding game.
