343 Industries has lost yet another member of Halo Infinite’s team while the game is still in development though perhaps this time it isn’t as clear as to if this was just a developer finishing their part of the project or if something else is afoot.
Kolbe Payne is the person to leave this time and rather than taking a break from the industry he’s actually jumped to Gunfire Games, creators of more recent titles such as Darksiders 3 and Remnant: From the Ashes. Kolbe was Halo Infinite’s primary Gameplay Designer and as such losing someone that important to the development of a game could be seen as a massive blow to the title in question. However as many have pointed out those who work in the industry performing contract work frequently tend to change studios and start on new projects once their side of the work is complete and it’s believed this is what happened here. Ever since Halo Infinite’s delay to the end of this year many think that the game itself is in fine and working condition but that the visuals are what really need updating. As such it may simply be that with the gameplay in the new Halo title set up and working fine that Kolbe may just have finished up his work for the game and so moved onto newer pastures. If so then I wish him the best of luck and I certainly hope this isn’t a sign of more troubling things for 343.
That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
