With the rumours of the Switch 2 announcement being true other game rumours are being brought out to discuss and the biggest one of note currently is returning to the land of Cyrodill with the Oblivion remake. We discussed this briefly last year, but to summarise, there was leaked documentation showing both it and Fallout 3 would be getting a full remake, and now even more leaks have come out saying that Oblivion is all steam ahead and should be coming out in the mid of this year, along with a complete port to Unreal Engine 5.
Now this is a huge change and brings about a large amount of questions, mainly just how faithful will this remake be to the original? With a brand new engine a lot of the game’s original jank will be gone, which was part of what gave it such a unique identity, and does this also mean new voice acting and gameplay? We just don’t know at this point. But with the same leaker mentioning stuff about the Switch 2, I guess we will just have to wait and see until later this year if something actually gets announced. All I can say is, I feel so sorry for the Skyblivion team if this is true.
