A New XCOM Game!?

Say hello to Chimera squad

Well colour me surprised, a brand new smaller scale XCOM game just out of the blue, this is just what I needed!

Fireaxis decided to announce XCOM: Chimera Squad, a side-story/sequel to XCOM 2 set some years after the events of the previous game and set in a city that is inhabited by both aliens and humans. The idea behind this game is that you play as a small peacekeeping task force comprised of both aliens and humans in order to keep the city in check and show the world that both species are capable of living amongst each other in peace.

The game is obviously a lot smaller scale than previous XCOM titles and this is also reflected in the gameplay changed. Not only are you unable to make up your own soldiers and instead choose from a pre-made selection of agents but missions are generally faster paced, have a large focus on breach combat and turns are taken per unit rather than per team which means turn order has become a lot more important. I for one have already pre-ordered the game as it’s half price right now (only £8.49 here, what a steal!) and it comes out in just over a week on April 24th. Talk about perfect timing, this isolation may end up giving me some of the most fun gaming experiences of the year!

That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
