Speculation has been running a bit wild over the past weekend as under Valve’s upcoming projects page there exists 2 entries, one is for Deadlock, their upcoming Moba, and the other is for something that is hidden from view now. Many people speculate that is the the confirmation that Half Life 3 is finally coming, others (including myself) are convinced however that this is simply a UI bug and that the spot there is because of a coding error that caused Steam Gift Cards to show up as projects rather than purchasable items.
Of course maybe I’m just being pessimistic and will end up eating my words down the line, but it’s clear from Valve that they will only do a new Half Life game when a big enough development in gaming technology comes up. Such was the case with Half Life: Alyx and VR Technology, so who knows really when we will get a new Half Life. Maybe it will be when we get brain-augmentations to play the final adventures of Gordon Freeman in our minds! (I have my doubts though). Regardless, don’t get too excited for this, or do, I’m not your mother.
