Healers and cleric-type characters in games are generally rather overlooked due to being lumped into the ‘support’ part of gaming. The real heroes do battle, slay the monsters and take the glory while the healers and white mages make sure they stay alive. I always find it strange as without someone healing the main hero they wouldn’t make it very far at all.
It’s this line of thinking that made me recently start another Skyrim character but this time I would only focus on restoration and light/sun based magic. Funnily enough this has led to what I can think to be one of the most powerful and broken characters I have ever made, being able to provide a constant stream of health and obliterate enemies with powerful light spells. It’s an interesting twist and I am now quite interested in the idea of doing this type of playthrough in other games. I just hope they are as viable as this one was. I suppose the moral of this post is to not underestimate those who view light magic or healing as their speciality, you’re doing them a disservice.
