I’m one for enjoying all types of media, it’s part of the human experience after all, and video games have such a variety of ways they can make you feel that it feels like probably one of the most diverse mediums you can experience stories and characters in. One of the genres, and perhaps the most controversial, are kink games, games that are focused on getting you in a… certain mood, and shockingly some of them are some of the most popular games you can buy.
Now personally, I don’t really get these types of games myself, but that’s just my own personal preference, and I’m fully aware that there is an entire audience for these types of games. What I find most interesting though is how defensive or argumentative this genre is for those who either see any of these titles showing up on their lists, or see others enjoying them. I’ve seen the argument before that they aren’t ‘Real Games’ and you shouldn’t waste your time with them. To me that seems silly, as while they may not be traditional video games, all aspects of art and media should be allowed to exist, even if they do not conform to conventional standards. Now their representation of women and the unrealistic standards they set for interactions with those of the opposite sex, well that’s an entirely different can of worms and one I am not qualified to discuss in detail, but at the end of the day if these types of games aren’t actively harming people, then why should you care if they exist.
However, that’s just one old man’s point of view, what are your thoughts on these types of games? Discuss this in the comments, I’d be curious to see what people think of this topic. That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
