As I started up TemTem I of course got to create my own custom character and customise their appearance. I was very interested however by the end of creating my player avatar when I was asked by the game which pronoun I wanted to be addressed by as a preference. This actually took me completely off guard as this is the first instance in my own experience of playing a game which has included this as an option which was very nice to see.
Gaming has always had a stigma of being hostile to people not familiar with the medium however something I don’t see discussed often is how much this has improved over the years. Seeing options like this be included in big game releases just shows that things are becoming more progressive and accepting in the world which is always a good thing in my book. This personally doesn’t affect me at all as I’m about as much of a vanilla straight white cis male as you can imagine but I am overjoyed to see people who may not identify as their physical gender having an option for them to feel the most comfortable they can when playing a multiplayer game which just helps to bring all aspects of gaming together. I hope this is a sign of more games including things such as this as it can only bring good things to the world and keep bigots away from the wonderful world of gaming.
That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
