Nintendo is no stranger to making hardware gimmicks, hell the Wii pretty much cemented motion controls into the game sphere for many years alone, however the latest findings on patents for the upcoming Switch 2 may prove to be the most bizzare choice for Nintendo yet, Mouse Support.
The patent in question, filed last year but only recently being published, says that the joy-con controllers on the console will have a mouse functionality by using any surface alongside the attachments that come with the controllers. It’s an odd choice, but opens up a huge realm o possibility for porting games to the Switch. Even more strangely however this makes me wonder how on earth this will tie into first party Nintendo titles as the company is well known for shoving in a hardware mechanic or too into titles like Mario and Zelda. How on earth would those use mouse support? We just don’t know at this point. All we do know is that it’s coming, and the full reveal of the Switch 2 later in the year is sure to be an exciting thing. Maybe an RTS will be playable on the switch… I have my doubts though.
That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
