The Far lands Have Been Reached

An achievement for the ages! (Also thanks for the re-upload on Youtube friend)

If you don’t know who KurtJMac is, then you’re certain to hear more about him in the next few days. He’s been on a hell of a journey, lasting over 14 years at this point, to reach a mystical place in Minecraft; The Far Lands.

For those that don’t know, in older versions of Minecraft The Far Lands were a strange quirk of the procedural generation tool that caused the landscape once it got extremely far out enough to start messing up and becoming a strange wall of shapes, holes and odd terrain. It’s a mystical place that has been known about for a long time, and eventually patched out from the game, but KurtJMac decided to take it upon himself back in 2011 to actually walk across his Minecraft world to reach it by foot.

This past weekend, he finally did it. He’s been streaming his work for years at this point and doing much of it in order to raise money for charity but it’s insane to think that such a momentous piece of work has finally concluded. As seen by the stream highlight above he’s very humble and calm about the whole thing, almost as if he hasn’t achieved something he spent 14 years working towards. I for one am so glad he finally made it, and it just shows the genuine passion and dedication people can have to games. Congratulations once more, I hope you can finally rest your feet now.

That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
