More Cuts at Ubisoft

The face of the industry now, unfortunately

Another day, another series of layoffs to try and keep the perpetual myth of infinite growth to investors going, such a shame. This time it’s Ubisoft who after the closure of their Ubisoft Halifax branch last week ahve begun a new series of layoffs in their Swedish studios, mainly Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft Stockholm. This will no doubt come as a massive blow to the employees, but even more so this is hurtful due to the fact that the company recently did a voluntary ‘transition’ program to try to get people to choose themselves to give up their jobs, seems that strategy didn’t work eh?

So once again we deal with talented devs who now have to go hungry because the studio that owns them wants to keep pretending everything is ok with their finances. Who knows how far this will go, but you can bet there will be plenty more of these in the coming year. I weep for the poor game devs. That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
