well it’s official, we’re not getting Grand Theft Auto 6 this year, though most who follow gaming news probably knew that already. GTA 6 has been the holy grail of games in modern times with it expected to be the next gold standard of game prices and most likely being the biggest and most played game when it releases.
However, Rockstar have now confirmed a new May 2026 release date and stated that they need the extra time to make sure the game is up to the usual mirror shine polish and AAA quality that you would expect from one of the biggest game franchises in the world. That’s absolutely fair, and the devs absolutely should take as much time as they need, however that hasn’t stopped Take-Two (Rockstar’s parent company) having their stock drop dramatically as investors panic that their big meal ticket for this year has to wait additional time. Still, in terms of good news, now devs this year can actually have a chance at doing well in the awards categories now that they aren’t against the crime titan series. With no news being released about GTA 6 recently we pretty much all expected the delay, but now we finally have it. I’ll be interested to see the repercussions of this.
