In a bout of incredibly bad timing I spoke yesterday about how studio Bluepoint Games approached Sony with the idea of remastering Bloodborne but were denied the ability to do so by FromSoft. Sony just announced that now the Bluepoint will be shutting down with their employees being scattered and left confused as to the shut down. This all stems from Sony’s focus on live-service titles previously which Bluepoint were apparently working on, specifically a God of War game, which was cancelled by Sony.
All of this is very sad as yet another studio has been fed to the sharks of management and production process, but what is most confusing is that the elements to save them were right there. PC Ports of both Demon Souls and Bloodborne would have sold like crazy and been the real killer apps that allowed the studio to stay afloat, but instead here we are once again with another studio closed to chase trends. I just hope the employees are able to find work once again, such a shame.
That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
