Valve have announced via a blog post that there is a planned update for Team Fortress 2’s PvE mode, Mann vs Machine that is slated to come out in two parts, one in August and the other on Halloween. This is pretty huge, as Valve announcing a new update, even if it is just for one game mode, is unheard of and is giving a lot of people hope that this may be the major update that many have been waiting for.
I wouldn’t hold out that much hope, as it appears as though Valve wants this to be another community-driven update as the blog post also calls for creators and fans to submit their maps and game modes for possible inclusion, meaning it’s likely that this will be community additions and not much else. Still, it’s the perfect time for Valve to finally give the game some love 8 years down the line, and if this turns out to be the fabled Heavy update then you can expect plenty of TF2 content in the latter half of the year. Also, calling it now, if this is the Heavy update, this will be called ‘Heavy Metal’. I await my predictions to come true…
