This will be the final post on the reveals from the Switch 2 Direct, there’s plenty of other games that were shown off but I feel as though I’ve done enough I swear. To me, this was perhaps the most surprising of all the reveals, a new game by From Soft that is a Switch 2 exclusive, what an odd choice. This is ‘The Duskbloods’.
Now you may be thinking “Gosh, that looks a lot like Bloodborne” and you’d be partially correct. While this certainly does look like a Victorian-style adventure with melee, guns and blood involved it’s actually a completely different experience. Firstly, it’s a PvPvE game, meaning that you and other players have to compete against one another and the world itself, it isn’t just a normal story adventure that you just play, it’s inherently multiplayer. Second, the world itself is not quite Victorian, in fact it jumps around timelines depending on your map choice, strangely. Finally, this game is about playing one of multiple different types of vampire-like creatures who all have different abilities and playstyles. So all in all, a very different game, and another strange multiplayer-focused outing being given by From Software. With this being a Switch 2 exclusive, I could see many fans simply choosing to give this one a miss, but I’ll be interested to see if it ends up impressing those that typically enjoy these types of games, or if we will all just lament that this could have been Bloodborne 2, and it has ended up not being that.
