Vidoe game lore can be utterly facinating stuff. Some of it can be straightforward, some can be complicated, and some can be so obscure that fans can spend years speculating over it and coming up with new theories. Lore allows us to truly feel as though we are jumping into a new world and immersing ourselves in a reality outside of our own. Lore is, in many ways, the building blocks of creative worlds, and I want to know about some of your favourites!
One of my favourite pieces of lore comes from The Elder Scrolls universe and it’s the concept of CHIM, essentially the ability to recognise your own non-reality within the space of the world and actively choose to still exist within it, becoming essentially a god in the process. The very idea is facinating, eldritch, and everything else I like in a good bit of esoteric worldbuilding. And so, I want to know some of yours. Let me know some of your favourite examples of lore from games that you enjoy the most.
