I’m making my way through Avowed currently and having a great time, this absolutely has been scratching the itch that I’ve been missing since Skyrim’s release, even if it absolutely is not the same type of game. However, it suddenly dawned on me, there are not that many First Person Fantasy RPG’s around nowadays are there?
Oh sure we’ve had a couple big ones released recently with Avowed and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 but that’s just a happy coincidence and the actual genre of first person fantasy RPG experiences is actually quite limited when you go into the modern era. You of course have your classic retro dungeon crawler games which are exactly that, but many of them feel very outdated and the biggest thing that something like The Elder Scrolls does is give you an entire world to explore and interact with, which is something unique to these types of experiences. I just thought there would have been more, it seems like a winning formula that people would want to copy. Still, perhaps that leaves plenty of room in the future, or just for another Elder Scrolls game to come out.
That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
