It’s funny to think I’m nostalgic for a game from the 3DS era, and yet here we are, buying Pokemon Legends ZA because Pokemon X and Y were cherished memories of mine from not too long ago. There won’t be a full review of the game, as a bit too much time has passed for it to be relevant, but from my brief time I’ve had with the game I can say that it’s been good fun. Getting to explore an open orld Lumiose City full of detail and extra things to do has been great, and the legends formula to capturing and exploration has led to a much more interesting gameplay experience. I’ve also enjoyed the new battling system, and while I’m sure there’s so much depth I’ve still to find in it, I’m curious to see what it’s actually like when taken to the extreme. I’m also interested in the mystery it sets up, hopefully the story is actually given some love and attention and not just used as a framing device to catch Pokemon. Either way, so far I’m enjoying it, will see if that lasts over time.
