2025 has been quite the year for gaming. Debuts of new, huge franchises from fledgling studios that sweep up awards across the entire year, the return of franchises that had people frothing at the mouth ready to jump back in again. So many games, so many good times. Whilst I can’t call 2025 a good year as I lost my wonderful kitten Debra, I can certainly say this has been a good year for gaming.
We started off the year of reviews with Avowed, Obsidian’s jump into the first-person RPG genre which, while good and enjoyable, didn’t impress too many people. Of course Clair Obscur came out too, but I jumped onto the experience only after hearing about it from other people, needless to say it was a good time. Then I got to jump back into a beloved indie series with Everhood 2, with much to learn from the story department, and I then got to experience the first chapter of ENA: Dream BBQ which was a smash success and I am thoroughly looking forward to more chapters.
Speaking of chapters, Deltarune fully came out, with Chapters 3 and 4 this year marking the full release and providing an excellent time! There was also Elden Ring: Nightreign, a fantastic co-op Souls experience that I still enjoy playing today. I also of course played plenty fo Warframe this year, with laods of updates and new patches of content to still make it my live-service game of choice. So much happened this year, and so many good experiences came out.
I also had a personal accomplishment of finally releasing the Audiobook for The Vile Art of Necromancy, took me long enough! Completing that brought that chapter of my life finally to a close, I was so happy to be fully finished a product. I also discovered that I quite liked playing unga-bunga strength characters in RPG games this year, with my recent full playthrough of the Souls Series as the large and in charge, stick-wielding ‘Wrecking Ball’ proving to be one of my most fun experiencing in the Souls series. A lot of changes this year, and a lot of good times. The website too has been happily chugging along, getting a comment here or there and overall just still being a nice place for me to write down my thoughts and report on the latest gaming news. So whilst this is still a small site that pretty much just has me talking to myself most of the time, I still thank all my readers for taking part in this with me. Here’s to 2026, let’s hope the world doesn’t explode.
That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
