Halo 1 certainly seems to get a lot of love for nostalgia, including myself when I got the chance to play through it on the MCC on PC! Microsoft seems to agree, as while they figure out what the hell to do with the next Halo game, they’re remaking the first game from the ground up on Unreal Engine 5.
Known as ‘Halo: Campaign Evolved’ this remake will be an actual from the ground up redo of the original game rather than the Anniversary game that came out a wee while back which was just an enhanced visuals skin on top of the first game. This means not only new visuals but also new mechanics (such as sprinting, sacrilege!) changed level designs, weapons and vehicles from later Halo games and even 3 brand new prequel levels. we have no idea as to the full extent of the changes as the game only has a vague 2026 release date at current, but you can be sure that it will either make fans really happy, or really mad. Plus, it’s coming out on Playstation as well as the usual Xbox and PC, I never thought I’d see the day. More info is sure to be revealed over the coming months, but for now you can bet I’ll be smug when it rolls around and I get to play it on the Game Pass, even if it doesn’t end up being a great experience.
That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
