Sackbird

That logo is just… mwah, perfection

For those that haven’t been keeping up to date with all things terrible in the video game industry Microsoft has been on a bit of a spree recently by choosing to axe many members of staff from various projects and studios, with one of the worst hit being ZeniMax, the parent company that owns and runs Bethesda. Specifically the MMO division of ZeniMax was absolutely gutted, leaving many who play The Elder Scrolls Online unsure as to the future of the game. What’s even worse though is the destruction of a new MMO project they were working on, and with so many employees being laid off because of this, they decided to go independent and do things themselves!

This new company, now called Sackbird (a play on the cancelled MMO Project Blackbird) and they proclaim themselves to being fully developer owned and not influenced by outside investors and corporate meddling. I’m glad to see devs getting into a new project and I do wish them the best for the future, I just hope that they can continue to mantain their independence whilst producing great games. Then again, just look at how well Expedition 33 did, so there’s good precedence here. Let’s see how this all plays out…

That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
