More Nintendo, More Direct, here we go!
First off, it’s Mario’s 40th birthday and because of this plenty of Mario related content was talked about, including a new movie, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which I’m sure will be equally as enjoyable as the last one. They also ntoed that both of the Mario Galaxy games are getting ports to the Switch and Switch 2 (get used to me referring to both) as well as a new Yoshi game, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, which gave me real Yoshi’s Story vibes especially from the visuals, god it looks so cute.
After that, the other games! First off we saw more about the Tomodachi Life sequel including a release date, Spring of next year. Lots of games were announced for this non-specific time, so get used to hearing that too. Next up, one of the most bizzare announcements, Virtual Boy games will be released on Nintendo’s online game service, and in order to play them, you’ll need to purchase a plastic casing that you can insert your Switch consoles into, to give you the real seizure inducing and back aching experience you truly desired, you mad mad bastards.
Metroid Prime 4 got a new trailer, showing that Samus is now a motorbike chick, and looks badass as hell while doing powerslides in an open world desert experience. Then there was the news that Donkey Kong Bananza was getting DLC, taking you back to Kong Island and giving you brand new challenge modes to enjoy. Then there was a very weird game, Pokemon Pokopia which is a weird Animal Crossing-like game in which you play as a Ditto, pretending to be a human, in order to make an island for Pokemon and live with them. A very strange game, and one that I get vibes of The Thing from, but otherwise I probably will check it out as it looks fun enough.
Finally, there was the announcement of a brand new Fire Emblem game, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave which looks to have the player party take part in a roman gladiator-style tournament to achieve a wish. It’s an interesting premise, and while I haven’t played the series for a while I’m sure tactical-game fans will be thrilled to hear of a new entry in the series coming out next year.
That’s everything I wanted to talk about, but there was plenty more also announced. Be sure to check out the official stream archive for everything announced. That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
